This script automagically detects when a deviation is too large to be displayed in your browser window and changes it's dimensions (whilst maintaining the initial proportions) so that the image will fit within the browser window properly.
This script only works on the Width of these deviations at the moment (primarily due to the predominant landscape orientation of monitors and large photographs), but, if a need presents itself down the track, it may be modified to also shrink Portrait oriented deviations to fit as well.
NOTE: This script replaces the "Full-View" button's parameters. Meaning that the image cannot be seen larger than the maximum size allowed by your screen.
I will be working on a further update allowing you to view a deviation at Standard (Zoom-Out), Shoehorned (Optimised) and Fullview (Maximum) resolutions.
0.3.1 - deviantART URL Change - Patched.Due to a recent modification of the URLs for Deviation used by DeviantART, the script was patched. Tested OK.0.3 - Offsite Resample Version. In the event an image needs to be shoehorned into the screen, a PHP Script, hosted on my server, now resamples the image for a smoother, cleaner appearance.0.2 - dAv5 Compatible Release.
NOTE: If anyone knows any cheap PHP hosting plans (requires high bandwidth, minimal webspace), please Note or Email me.
0.1 - Initial Release
If you are experienced at all this, then just access the version you want from the links above in the "Version History" Section.
- Get Firefox (If you haven't got it already)

Ever come across an deviation and thought: "This picture's huge! I wish I had a bigger monitor so I could see all of it."? Well before you fork out cash for that gorgeous 30" display, take a look at Shoehorn, a script for firefox by *Lucanos. (Featured by `maxwell-heza)
Commentshaha that will help you will all of my images lol
-- Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity I must admit that your photos were at least an inspiration for this one, along with alot of other people's photos which are uploaded at full-res.
So, rather than do what I have been doing for alot of people, where I have commented on their work and suggested that they resize the image and upload it again, I decided that I could create this script. It's pretty funky, actually - resizes the image to suit the window size (no matter how small it may be, and how large the original picture is). I hope people get into it - makes viewing this site so much easier. -- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." wow you MADE IT! NERRRDD!!!!
-- Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity Yeah - this is one of mine.
I have created about four Greasemonkey scripts like this one (they're in my gallery). So... I'm a bit of a nerd. I have to admit that much. -- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." Wow, another great idea. Thank you. I'm downloading it now.

-- Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity Yeah, it just came to me one day.
Sometimes being a JavaScript nerd can have it's advantages... I know it's worked like a charm for me so far. -- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." Yeah... That would be nice.
I mean, a career doing something like that, rather than my current nerdy job. -- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." Thanks!
Happy to hear you like this one. -- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." |
